I have returned to blogging

So if anyone has ever checked this blog, you will see that i havent updated in some time now. 3 weeks ago i left Lake Louise where i had been living for the last 4 months, this was some what of a sudden decision to leave as i hadnt planned on leaving until around now. I then flew out to New York City where i stayed with Mr Thomas Rennie in his Brooklyn apartment. Ny and Brooklyn was amazing, such a great city with so much going on all the time. Aswell as all the 'touristy' attractions, I had lots of fun wandering the streets of Brooklyn and Manhattan and bike riding and row boating in central park. The weather in New York was a big change from Lake Louise, in the week i was there i experienced two or three days that were around 30+ degrees. Toms apartment was very fun, we would go on to the roof and hang out there on the warm nights and watch the city lights. My week eventually came to an end and i left Thomas and Luke in Brooklyn with my sites set on London.

Two weeks later im sitting in cloudy Watford, a 15 minute drive outside of London, writing on this blog. London and Watford are great places, I havent done all that much wandering yet as i had my Visa Card lost into the abyss of a Tesco atm. So as i had absolutely no money to my name, I spent a week laying on the couch and browsing the internet.

Thats my life at the moment up to this day, I feel like blogging more often so hopefully when i have some more spews ill let the internet know.

Where is my mind?

Postcards From Home

Sorry for the delay in blogging, i havent really had anything to blog about actually. However, thats not to say that theres nothing going on here. Yesterday it snowed heavily for the first time in months and has continued to snow all through today. This has been a long awaited fall as the mountain continued to get drier by the day.

Some of my family is in Canada at the moment, so i took a few days off work and have been staying and riding with them for the last couple of days. Its been good to get out of lake louise and see my family but I am actually missing the lake believe it or not.

Ill hopefully have another video up either tomorrow or the next day with some footage of our latest snowfalls.

My buddy Nate has just arrived in town and is living here for a few months so im just about to go out and catch up with him.

Fun times at Sunshine

Fun in the Sun

Yesterday, Myself, Mike, Rob and Will took a trip out to Sunshine Village Mountain in search of some powder and good times. We caught the bus out at 7:40 am and arrived there shortly after 8am.

It was a nice sunny day and everything was good, until i broke my board ending my riding for the day and consequently everyone elses. As we didnt have a ride home, we were planning to hitch hike. As we made our way out onto the highway a very big and expensive ute pulled up alongside us, the driver called out "need a lift?". How perfect, we had only been waiting five minutes and we allready had a comfortable lift home. As we placed our boards in the tray of the ute and went to get into the ute, the driver informed us that we would have to 'sit in the back'. No worries, ill just open the back door and get in? However the back seat was covered in luggage, this is when i realised that he meant for us to sit in the tray of the ute.

I thought quickly about the decision, and with the temperature dropping as it got later, and the highway being fairly deserted, this seemed to by our best option, so i jumped up and into the tray, We took off.

The tray was rather comfortable as it could have easily fit 20 people in it. The drive was fun to say the least, but when i thought it couldnt get any better, the driver passed through a can of beer each through the back window and we enjoyed our free beer whilst looking out in the canadian rocky mountains.

All in all, it was good decision apart from the physical dangers, good experience.
Where is my mind?

Enjoying the ride

Welcome Back

To the internet for myself. Sorry for the delay in blogging, the internet where i live was broken and had being getting repaired for the last week or so, so i havent been able to go on at all. Nothing much is new here, The temperature has risen recently, it was 9 degrees celcius a few days ago which made it very pleasent to go riding in! However it seems that our little heat wave was to be cut short after a few days, with us experiencing some negative 20 celcius days aswell.

Australia day here was a lot of fun, the bar on the mountain had an Australian barbeque on the day with Extra Dry beers for sale aswell.

University offers came out recently. I got offered a spot at Swinburne University in Hawthorne which im pleased with, but I am waiting until second round offers are out to what else may come up.

Our new flat mate arrived last night, finally a full house of seven again after unfortunately Chris the tall canadian left us to fufill other goals.

Speaking of guests, my fellow melbournian friend will be joining me shortly and sleeping on the floor as she travels the world.

I have to go into Banff tomorrow to pick up some grocery shopping as once again, myself and wesley have run out of food.

Im looking forward to the coming months being here, and then also going on to NYC and then out to Europe. Ill post again soon with photos when something interesting happens.

Hello World

Greetings fellow bloggers and readers. My laptop battery is about to die so i may have to write this post another night. The weather is heating up here, its going to be +9 tommorrow, amazing. As the heat rises, the snow falls, we had our first two powder days ever here last weekend and it was amazing. Myself and fellow australians Michael and Rob (Sydney) went and rode through the trees on the backside of the mountain all day and it was delightfull. I have been working in a cafe lately, which is a nice change from the caffeteria which i have been bound to since beginning work here. You havent had a chai latte until you've tried mine. joke. Ive been reading the 3rd installment in Stephanie Meyer's 'Twilight' series lately, its rather intriguing and addictive, this doesnt surprise me as it seems to have sent the teenage world into a vampire frenzy, although the books do lack that vampire vibe that i crave, weird i know. Im currently sick with a rather painful head cold, so tomorrow, the beginning of my three day weekend (yes!) im going to spend it lying in bed reading and watching movies. I also have to catch up on some laundry. I recieved my first pay check yesterday and was pleased yet not so pleased with recieving $381 for a fortnights work. Although thats after my rent has been taken out, and i could easily live off that for a fornight, its still rather small compared to what i could be making working full time in melbourne. Being finally paid is a relief as i was digging rather deeply into my savings account, which needs to be saved to further my travels. My friend Sarah whom i share an apartment with and myself have been jamming to some dallas green lately, shes a rather talented musician and has been covering 'coming home' on guitar while i have been singing.

Due to the lack of....'quality'... in the apartment complex we live in, myself and wesley had enough of our draws tumbling down and not having any room in our room to live, so we decided we needed to 'renovate'. We searched the basement and came back with 4 milk crates each under our arms and brought them into our room. We then created a makeshift shelf which now holds all of our belongings which once lived on the floor. I stumbled across a lamp which now serves its purpose on my makeshift bedside table (suitcase).

My battery on my laptop is about to run out so i have to end this post here. Ill update asap with photos and more news. Ill leave you with a couple of photos from our trip to the casino in Canmore which led to me leaving $70 poorer.
for now, Where is My Mind?

Shopping Sucks

Went shopping the other day. Living away from home definetly has its up's and down's and having to pay and shop for my own groceries is definetly a downer, here i am pictured tired and frustrated in the safeway line in Banff. Where is my mind?

2009

Sorry to anyone who reads this for the lack of posts. As its holidays over here, the hill is really busy so I have to work long days and it is rather tiring. Work here isnt that good, its hard and strenuous, and it takes up lots of time. Other than work, its rather good here, having fun. Last night was new years eve here and the whole of chucktown (where i live) went crazy and everyone partied untill the wee hours of the morning. I had work at ten new years day and i awoke to the sunlight at 10:30, good. I turned up to work after a call from my manager informing me that i was late at 11am. Assuming i would be in trouble, i arrived to find one manager curled in a ball on the ground vommitting, and the other almost asleep from partying all night, so i wasnt in trouble at all.

Ive been obsessing over stephanie meyers twilight books, finishing the second book only after a few days of reading it, so i orderd the third from my family and hopefully it will be arriving in the mail tomorrow, excited.

The weather is nice at the moment, although still freezing at negative 10-5, its a lot better than negative 35-50 which it was a week ago.

Im rather tired an have work at 9 tomorrow, so ill leave you all with this photo from last nights antics. Happy New Year
